"I am a surgeon myself and when it came time to have the best examine our child - it's was KC or no one else.  Great care can be expensive and it takes time to get the right tests done. Dr. Cooper's costs were appropriate (less than dinner for 4 in San Carlos) and the entire staff used modern equipment to get the right diagnosis. We pay cash for our care as our daughter is foster/adopt. Her office was very well staffed and my daughter loves this place - people, toys, clean and smart / caring !!   We will 'see' them soon and are very pleased. They were on-time and got us on the schedule ASAP too."

"Dr Kim Cooper is excellent and went out of her way to fit me with a pair of bifocals for driving my Tesla Model 3.  I explained to her that the Model 3 has one monitor screen located in the center console area.  To read anything on the right side I had to lean over and tilt my head.  The navigation instruction and warnings were blurs.  When Dr Kim Cooper was informed I had driven the Tesla to the appointment, she said lets do this right.  She  grabbed her "kit" and we went out to the parking area to the car.  She sat with me in the car asking "which is better A or B" until she found the right magnification and lens to bring the entire screen into focus while I was sitting in a normal driving position.  Next Dr Coper took me to their selection of glassed and fitted me with a style that accommodates executive bifocals.  The staff there were courteous and helpful.   Within a couple of weeks I received my pair of "Tesla Driving Glasses".  Cool!  They are perfect, I feel safer driving and I cannot thank Dr Cooper enough for her professional and personal service."

"Dr. Cooper is THE best doctor I've met! she helped enormously with our daughter's eye problem. She's the only ophthalmologist who figured out my daughter is having a hemangioma rather than a blocked tear duct. She's super sympathetic, professional and with impeccable bedside manner. I've heard great things about her from other doctors before meeting her, and I just can't say good enough things too after that."

"I went there for an eye appointment. Unaware that I had a contact lens examination, I didn't bring/wear my contact lenses. When we got there the person was extremely rude and probably the most impatient person I have ever met. Overall not a very good experience. Assistants were great but Dr. Apte was outstanding and kind."

"Can't speak highly enough of Dr. Kim Cooper!  If you are in need of a pediatric ophthalmologist in the the Bay area you should definitely contact her.  Our son was diagnosed with strabismus (crossed eyes) by our optometrist.  After months of unsuccessful vision therapy we were referred to Dr. Cooper for eye surgery.  Kim's bedside manner with children is a thing to behold.  She won my 9 year old son over in about 5 seconds.  It is obvious that she really has love for the kids she treats.  She is funny, playful, and at the same time completely professional.  Every appointment began and ended with hugs.  At one point she even challenged my son to a foot race down the hallway which he still talks about.  As terrified as we were at the prospect of our child needing surgery, Kim put our son (and us) at ease throughout the process.  I'm happy to say that the surgery was a complete success!"

"Dr. Cooper is a one of a kind doctor. Not only does she have a heart of gold, but she's the best of the best in her field. My daughter was first diagnosed with strabismus (cross of the eye) at 1 years old and it still baffles me how Dr. Cooper handles her at each appointment. She's got a gift with kids. I highly recommend her to any parent who has a child with vision needs. 5 stars!"

"We went to see Dr Cooper for a second opinion after the first doctor that my PD had recommended for my son said he needed a procedure to remove a number of sties that he has in his eyes.  He is only 4.5yr and the idea of having him put to sleep before exploring other options really scared us.We got a very quick appointment with Dr. Cooper after explaining to the very nice person who answered the phone the situation.  My husband took my son and we were super impressed with how sweet she was to my son, how much she dedicated to him and how detailed she was.  She also came back with an option and indicated surgery is the last resource.  We are so happy and thankful that we cam across her.Thank you Dr. Cooper.  My son really enjoyed the visit and we are very thankful to you and all the staff who worked with us on Monday.Great doctor and I don't see going anywhere else that is not with Dr. Cooper!!!  My husband even said, if she see adults, I want her to check my eyes.Thank you!!!"

"If there were a place to add stars, I would.  Dr. Cooper is the BEST in her field.  Ask any medical professional and they will suggest Dr. Cooper.  We were referred to her over a decade ago for a pediatric issue and now we all visit this practice for our eye care.  She is practical, has a wonderful sense of humor and she is incredibly intelligent.  Friends have used Dr. Cooper for various pediatric surgical procedures and she is top notch.  I recommend her without reservation for any pediatric issue."

"Dr Cooper had been working with my daughter and her intermittent exotropia over the last three years and has been wonderful. My daughter is always excited to go see Dr. Cooper! We recently made the difficult decision to have surgery after exhausting all other options.Last Friday she had her surgery. Though the whole process is scary Dr. Cooper's care, attention and positive attitude was reassuring. I don't feel my daughter could have been on better hands.  She also works with another pediatric opthomologist during surgery -giving another level of security to worried parents.  If I could give more stars I  would.  The only downside is that my vision insurance is now Eyemed which they are not contracted with so cost is more / we can't get glasses there which is frustrating because they have a great selection of kids glasses here"

"I thought Dr. Cooper was fantastic!  She did a great job handling my son who was scared to be there, and she was thorough and reassuring regarding an unusual situation he has with one of his eyes.  The office itself felt a little busy (long wait times, hard to get an appointment, etc.), but I think that's mostly because she's busy because she's so well-regarded.  We had a great experience here and have already recommended Dr. Cooper to two friends whose children need to be seen."

"Even thorough I had to switch to another optometrist; Dr. Cooper's Optical Department is definitely a keeper.  Patrick helped me two years in a roll.  He is truthful, technically-excellent, and very importantly, he always bears his customer's best interest in his mind.  You may prefer the frame choices here more than some other places."

"We were so impressed with several visits that we had to Dr. Cooper's office, that we felt compelled to write a review. We now understand why she is so highly regarded. Not only is she incredibly intelligent and professional, but she is very compassionate and kind-hearted. She brings a warmth and energy to the room that kids love...(Who wouldn't? Even us adults were delighted with her!). It's our impression that she understands that children can be quite nervous about an eye appointment, and that having someone peer into and/or pour drops into such sensitive organs as the eyes can be somewhat scary for kids. But Dr. Cooper is so sensitive and in tune to a child's needs, that she can rather easily engage and distract a child from the rigors of an eye exam. And then there's her laugh: She could charm an entire schoolyard of hungry, cranky children with it. She seems to take the expression "A smile is a curve that sets everything straight" to heart; she put us all at ease.It was also quite reassuring to see her juggle the human side of interacting with warmth, with calling out technical observations to the other medical professionals assisting and taking notes. Due to our son's medical needs, we have been to many doctors, and let us just say that Dr. Cooper could teach a seminar on multi-tasking. It was apparent to us that we were watching someone who takes pride in developing streamlined and efficient ways of working. From the front desk to our interaction with the various eye doctors, everything ran like a smooth ship. It's very difficult to do that and still maintain a sense of warmth and compassion in medical environments, and we're not sure how she pulled that off, but she does. We would also add that Dr. Apte is a very thoughtful, thorough and delightful doctor as well. She, too, is very compassionate. Also, all of the doctors appear to really work well as a team, which can be rare."

"Dr. Kim Cooper has been my eye doctor since I was 3 and half years old and I am now 19 years old. She has been fantastic and very accommodating. I am a pitcher and since I started playing baseball Dr. Cooper has been persistent in teaching me about eye safety, because I am blind in one eye. I have requested for years that Dr.Cooper carry Oakley's, because I love them and the way that they look.  Recently Dr.Cooper has started carrying Oakley's. Along with her skills, the Optical has fitted my needs with Oakley's and I am 100% satisfied with them. I recommend for anyone to see Dr.Cooper because she is best doctor I know. She is ALWAYS there for you when you need medical attention. The Oakley rep is also great to deal with and will be having a trunk show at Dr.Cooper's office on Thursday March 21st, 2013 2pm-5pm. Go to the show to see the assortments of cool Oakley glasses, sunglasses, sports googles, and great deals."

"I have a special needs kid who is very difficult to handle during medical appointments. He's been through a lot with doctors and is pretty hard to keep still and has very little language. Dr. Cooper and her staff came into the room fully prepared to deal with him and made me (and each of my 3 sons) feel comfortable throughout the entire visit. The dilation was not as hard as I would have expected given my son, and each time I've been there, the exams have gone almost miraculously smoothly. I have no idea how she does the exam so quickly and gets the data from my very uncooperative son. She is so friendly and calm and doesn't make you feel rushed in any way. She even popped in to put on a video for my kids when we were in the waiting room even though she has a lot of staff who could have done it. My father is an ophthalmologist so I feel like I have the authority to judge here; she is incredibly good."

"When you rate on Yelp, and you choose 5 stars it says "As good as it gets!" This is very true about Dr. Cooper. While friendly and kind she knows how to work with your child in a second. My 6 year old has been wearing glasses since he was 4 1/2, after a magical appointment with Dr. Cooper he got an entirely new prescription and has been enjoying his amazing SPORTS GLASSES for almost a month. My son does play sports and while he is a primary school student wearing these glasses since then has already helped him avoid getting a black eye from playing dodgeball twice.  DR. COOPER THANK YOU!I also have a 3 year old. This child is so clumsy. We have been to a few doctors and had him checked for a physical disability because he just cannot stay on his feet. After his humorous appointment with Dr. Cooper we realized this child is not clumsy he is suffering from being to fair complected. He basically only sees what he can if things are too bright, even bright lights and including the sun. He too wears his sports glasses with pride!Next to disneyland this is truly the next magical place."

"Was recommended by a friend to Dr. Cooper!  What a team! From the moment we walked in (took my two boys, ages 6 and 3), were welcomed with smiles and care (Maura) in the front office is awesome!  Dr. Loo initially saw the boys then Dr. Cooper met with us. My boys (as well as myself) were instantly at easy.  Dr. Coopers team were kind, thorough with the exams and explained everything step by step, not only to me but to my little guys so there was no fear at all!  It was like meeting old friends.  They were caring to the boys, and so professional as well.   I live in Fremont, and the trip to Burlingame was a bit out of the area however, my friend believed I would not be sorry.  She was right!  from now on I will take my boys only to Dr. Cooper's office.  You just don't meet poeple (professional or otherwise) who go to the extent these team of people go, for the sake of others.  Thank you Dr. Cooper.  We shall return."

"My daughter was born with a clogged tear duct on her left eye.  After a couple of months of doing massages and eye drops, it was still not corrected.  Our pediatrician referred us to Dr. Cooper to take it from there, and she was really helpful, and explained why it was happening, what our options were, and what the suggested course of action was.  She is super friendly, and our daughter loves her - she smiles ear to ear when she sees her.We ended up scheduling a tear duct probing procedure, which sounded very scary to me, even after Dr. Cooper assured me that it is a very common procedure and complications are rare...but I cry when she gets her shots, too, so I guess that's just how I am.  We arrived on the day of the appointment and she went over everything again with us (procedure, after care, etc) and answered all of our questions.  Then she picked up our daughter to take her into the other room, and she was laughing and giggling the whole way.  When she came back, she was calm and not crying, which is more than I could say for myself had I been in her position.  Dr. Cooper gave us her emergency pager number and told us that if we were worried about anything, day or night, she would get back to us right away.  We felt very reassured knowing that we could call her if we needed - all you parents out there know that problems seem to pop up at 2am...lolVivienne's eye is 100% better now, and she has had no complications.  I highly recommend Dr. Cooper for anyone whose children need to see an ophthamologist!"

"Dr. Cooper has been seeing our 4 year old son (who has autism and a host of medical problems) since he was 4 months old.  She is an incredible doctor.  She is very knowledgeable, caring, professional, and supportive.  She has been able to do eye exams on my son making them fun and not scary which is a real trick since he is non-verbal and can't sit still.  She has always offered to come and see him if he goes under anesthesia (which luckily hasn't happened for a while).  She is great with the developmental issues and has offered valuable information to me about the usefulness (not in our case) of vision related therapies for my son.  She returns phone calls personally when needed and has worked with me and my son to make the experience of going to the doctor pleasant.  I honestly can't imagine anything negative to say about her.  All of our friends who have complicated kids see her and adore her.  She is without question the best around."

"Dr. Cooper is almost magical. I have a non-verbal child with autism and she can give him an eye exam -- and she does it with great fun. She is well known in the special needs parent community for her extraordinary kid skills, her speed and accuracy, and her kindness. I trust her, I adore her, and I take all three of my kids to her. All three are well cared for with this office.Once, when my son was about 7 years old, he needed sedation for a medical procedure. Dr. Cooper offered to come to the hospital for a thorough exam while he was "out." She arrived as the anaesthesiologist was putting him to sleep, and of course he was frightened. There was a line of (male) doctors waiting against the wall for him to drop off. Dr. Cooper took one look at the room and came to sit with me at his bedside while I sang the alphabet song to soothe him. She wasn't waiting for the chance to "do her job" -- she was helping him through an awfully scary environment. And she took the time out from her busy practice to do it, too. The review from "JM" is literally the first negative thing I have ever heard about Dr. Cooper, and I hear positive raves about her from other parents all the time. You won't find a better eye doctor or a kinder person to look out for your children, anywhere."

"Dr. Cooper has been a Godsend for my son. He had horrible eye sight and Dr. Cooper was all over it. She tried many things for many months before we decided on surgery. I felt ready to do surgery because of how much time and attention she had given my son. On surgery day, Dr, Cooper showed up with a stuffed animal for my son and while holding his hand SKIPPED with him into the operating room. After surgery, when I got chocked up seeing my son still "under", she was quick to give me a big hug and stayed as long as we needed her. I adore Dr. Cooper and feel so blessed that she was recommended to my family. By the way, my son doesnt even need glasses anymore! THANKS DR C!!!"

"Dr. Kim Cooper Rocks!  This was the best doctor's visit we have ever had.  I was amazed at how well she could relate to my children and explain things so we could understand them.  My kids loved going to the eye doctor and are now excited to wear their glasses.  The kids had so much fun playing with toys and laughing with Doctor Cooper they forgot they were at the doctor's office. We were amazed at how competitively priced her optical department was too.  For the service we received we expected to pay a lot more for the quality products we purchased, but they were very reasonable. We drove all the way from San Jose on a recommendation and it was definitely worth it. "This review is for Dr. Feliciano, who is housed under Dr. Cooper's practice.Dr. Feliciano is the best optometrist I've ever been to! I was surprised to find that less than stellar review on here.  She has easily made it into my "CIRCLE OF TRUST'.  You know what I'm talking about - the dentist, hairstylist, doctor, that you carefully scope out before letting them near your teeth, hair, nails, wallet, etc.  My circle of trust is almost complete.  I am now looking for a good dentist. But I digress.Dr. Feliciano is fantastic. I've needed glasses since I was 13 and I've seen many optometrists - from HMO's to chain stores. I saw her for a prescription for both glasses and contact lenses.  She was the best! Why?Dr, Feliciano is everything I'm looking for in a good health care provider. Sometimes, doctors are nice but I feel like I don't get a proper checkup.  Others are really smart  but too cold.  Dr. Feliciano was both friendly and thorough!  I felt like this was the most comprehensive eye exam I've ever received.  She answered every question I had patiently and thoroughly ("What's a 'cup' ?"  "How common is retinal detachment?" "What are those eye drops for?" etc.).  I felt really comfortable around her so I asked about everything. She is well versed in the latest in eye care and technology and explains things clearly. When it came to the contact lens fitting, Dr. Feliciano made sure that I was getting the right pair for my eyes and didn't rush me at all when I was testing all the different lenses.  She gave me a trial pair in the office and also ordered another pair from a different brand so I could compare the two.  When it came to glasses, I never felt like she was pushing to sell product to me.  I hate that.  I sincerely felt like her primary concern was making sure I had the best vision possible.  I'm always terrible at the "Which one is clearer, 1 or 2?" part of the exam.  I never feel like I can see a difference.  She let me look at through all the lenses over and over again.  She's so nice that I felt like I could really take my time deciding. At the end of the exam, she explained my prescription to me and even pulled out one of those plastic models of an eye to show me how the eye works. I found her to be an engaging, intelligent, and friendly optometrist.  She makes you feel comfortable and really explains what she's doing every step of the way.  I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a great great eye doctor. Some things to know:* This office had all the latest and greatest in technology.  Dr. Feliciano totally doesn't have do that air puff thing in your eyes to test for glaucoma.  There's a new thing they have in the office where they numb your eyes with drops and use a machine to look into a blue light.  SO MUCH MORE PLEASANT.*Although it is a Pediatric Optometry office, they also see adults (Duh. I am not a child.)* If you are going for a checkup and you are getting your eyes dilated, don't forget sunglasses.  I didn't bring mine and wore those funky free ones they give you as you leave the office.*It's suite 235 (on the second floor).  It is the building across the street from Mills Peninsula Hospital on El Camino."

"Dr. Cooper is a gem.  We found her via referral from our pediatrician 7 years ago.   She's got a playful manner that instantly disarms my daughter and makes her feel safe in the "big scary doctors' office".  She instills great confidence in my husband and me because she is so "on it" when it comes to my daughter's care.  I had a number of questions about the implications of an enlargement of the optic nerve, and onset of myopia which turned up during a regular check up last year.  She fully explained both, volunteering helpful contextual information, and answered every question I had.  It was an interactive, real conversation and she wasn't rushing me out the door.   I even had a follow-up question a few days later, and not only did Dr. Cooper call me back herself, rather than have an assistant/associate place the call, she returned my call at exactly the time her office said she would (when does that ever happen).  She gave me another 10 or 15 minutes while I asked specific questions regarding the research that supported the treatment plan we'd agreed to.  Dr. Cooper really partners with us in making treatment decisions.  She is a rare find."

"You will be in great hands with Dr. Kim Cooper.Last week, my 2-year old daughter had strabismus (eye muscle) surgery to correct her "lazy eye".  It was performed flawlessly by Dr. Cooper.  I CANNOT thank her enough for taking such great care of our little girl.  The surgery procedure went exactly as how Dr. Cooper described it.  Our daughter's recovery has been amazing.  She was pretty much back to normal two hours after the surgery.  Dr. Cooper called later that day to check on her well being.Three days later, my daughter was back in Dr. Cooper's office for a follow-up appointment.  We were worried our daughter would react negatively and associate Dr. Cooper with the pain from "the surgery".  But my daughter was all smiles when she saw Dr. Cooper.  And this is from a girl who cries when she goes to the pediatrician!  That just shows how extremely comfortable our daughter is with Dr. Cooper, and her staff. It was the first surgery of any kind on our kids (we have a 5-year old boy also) so my wife and I were overly worried and overly cautious.  We got second and third opinions (from Stanford) before the surgery and they all agreed with Dr. Cooper's assessment and approach.  Dr. Cooper has a very confident and calming way about herself to soothe the worried parent. One thing I was dreading after the surgery was how we were going to prevent our daughter from rubbing her eyes (and possibly tearing the sutures).  Dr. Cooper's response was, "Don't even worry about it.  I tie tight sutures."  For me, those simple words weren't just about the sutures.  It was about the confidence she had of her work.  At that moment, I knew my daughter was in great hands."

She is one of the most caring Dr's I have ever met. She has made sure to schedule herself into my kids tonsil surgery so that she could examine them while they were under anesthesia. She followed up with us later that afternoon and even gave her personal number to us in case we needed her. When my son was 2 weeks old she sent him for a complete eye exam UNDER anesthesia with the retinoblastoma specialist just to make sure his eyes were clear! After that when he needed his tear ducts unclogged she was  the one who took care of that for us.... I would recommend her to ANYONE (and I have) who needs a great eye DR.....I could go on and on........"

"I've been taking my girls to Dr. Cooper for 6 years. They love the expereince and are easily occupied in the kid-friendly waiting room. It's well worth the long drive to find an eye doctor who is so good with the kids. However, a great doctor is not the only consideration. Dr. Cooper has worked hard to improve her office staff.Over the years we've had some frustrations with the front office staff. Those issues seem to be resolved with the recent hire of Lynn as receptionist. In the past I needed to call 6 months in advance to get an appt. I called a couple weeks ago expecting to have to wait until Thanksgiving to get in. Lynn was not only friendly and professional, she was able to quickly determine that our appointments were due in August. We were able to get an appt time and day that worked for us before school resumes."

(and gave us an all clear!)When I developed a serious eye infection, I went there for myself and was  treated by Dr. Cooper's excellent colleague, Dr. Apte. The office specializes in children's problems like 'lazy eye' and they make sure the kids are at ease during appointments. Even the decor is kid-oriented. They have an in-house optician which I haven't used, since I don't have optical insurance, but may be convenient for those who do. Looks like an vast selection of eyeglasses to choose from."
